1964 June

» The University of Kerala gives provisional sancion to Start 4 Science & 2 Arts batches of the Pre-Degree Course.

  ''    July  

» Classes begin in thatched sheds. 19 Teachers and 469 students admitted (257 boys and 212 girls)
» The inaugural function was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kerala.

1965  April 
» The first volume of the 'Vidyasarit', the college Magazine published.
1966  Nov.
» The formal opening of the main building of the college by His Excellency Dr. P.V. Cherian, the Governor of Maharashtra on »» Nov. 4. He was a student of the Rev. E.A.L. Moore in the C.M.S. College, Kottayam.
1967-1968
» The degree courses sanctioned were B.A. English Language and Literature B.A. Malayalam, B.A. Economics, B.Sc. Physics, » B.Sc. Zoology.
 
» A Green House for the Botany Department completed.
1969
» The degree course in Botany starts.
 
» For the first time there was a general election to the College Union.
1970
» The first meeting of the Parent-Teacher Association held. 800 parents attended.
1971
» The representatives of Central Agency from West Germany arrived to inspect the the utility of their funds.
1972
» The Lady's Hostel completed.
» A bus was purchased for the College students.
1975
» An English Medium Nursery School takes shape in the Lady's hostel, in the name Bishop Moore Nursery School.
1976
» The name of the nursery school was changed to Bishop Moore Vidyapith and upgraded to Std. IV.
 
» The degree block was completed.
 
» The Principal's Quarters was completed. It was named "Moore House".
 
» The Men's Hostel neared completion.
1977
» Bishop John Robinson, a nephew of Bishop Moore and Dean of the Chapel, Trinity College, Cambridge dedicated the Men's hostel.
 
» Six acres of land was purchased and the Rev. K.C. Mathew laid the foundation stone for the construction of a three storeyed building for Bishop Moore Vidyapith.
1978
» B.Sc. Course in Chemistry started.
1979
» The management appointed a Commission to evaluate the general performance of the College and assess the shortcoming and highlight the merits of each departments.
 
» The construction of a third hostel completed.
1981
» The Shift System introduced in the College because of heavy rush for admission.
 
» Pre-degree course in Commerce introduced.
1982
» Bishop Moore becomes a Post Graduate College. M.Sc. in Physics started.
 
»Bishop Moore College Alumni Association founded.
1983
»The first meeting of the Alumni Association conducted on 4-11-`83.
 
» The Rev. George Mathen Memorial Academy founded by the Malayalam Department.
1985
» Our Principal, the Rev.K.C.Mathew elected to the Kerala University senate and to the University syndicate.
 
» The teaching and non-teaching staff of the College offered one month's salary for the Silver Jubilee Programmes.
1986 
» The Rt.Rev.Dr. Donald Coggan, the former Archbishop of Canterbury laid the foundation stone of the Silver Jubilee Auditorium.
1987
» The N.S.S. unit of our College, with the help of the State Government, helped in building 250 houses for the economically poor. The N.S.S. volunteers planted Casurina trees in the campus.
1988
» The N.S.S. unit of our College was announced the best unit in the University of Kerala.
 
» The Silver Jubilee celebration declared open by the Governor of Kerala, Her excellency Mrs. Ram Dulari Sinha.
1989
» Prof. Mammen Varkey elected to the Kerala University Senate.
1990
» Foundation stone laid for the construction of a Foot-ball stadium, on the Eastern part of the College, away from the College campus.
1993
» The Lady's waiting Hall is constructed.
 
» Prof. Mammen Varkey elected to the syndicate of Kerala University.
1994
» The work of the Foot-ball Stadium completed. B.Com. Degree course sanctioned.
 
» The Manager appointed Prof. O.A. Cherian, Prof. C.C. Joseph, Rev. Dr. Jacob Varghese as a commission to evaluate the General performance of the College and assess the short coming and highlight the merits of each departments.
1995
» A new building with 3 classrooms completed on the eastern part of the campus adjacent to the library.» MSc.analytical Chemistry started
1996
» Prof. Mammen Varkey is appointed as the Principal. The U.G.C. staff pattern introduced. The U.G.C. Sponsored B.Sc. Industrial Chemistry sanctioned.
1997
» The Basket ball ground in the Lady's hostel is concreted.
 
» Series of consultations were held to redefine the Goals and objectives of the College
 
» The Pre-Degree course in commerce is withdrawn, as a result of the de-linking process of the University.
 
» College hosted a national level consultation on higher education. Theme : The redefinition of mission and reformulation of Agenda.
 

» Intercom installed.

» Dr. Thomas Koshy,  Professor of Mathematics, Boston University donated 5000 books on Mathematics and computer to the College Library.

» Two projects were started in Chemistry sponsored by STEC and UGC.

1998

» Eight primary Schools adopted by the College. The Third and second group in Pre-degree is withdrawn, as a result of the de-linking process.

A national level integration camp was held under          the auspices of NSS in our campus.

 

» Public address system installed.

» P. G. Course in English started.

1999
» Courses in computer science in collaboration with the university of the South, Tennessee, U.S.A. and Post graduate Diploma in Health Management in association with Canterbury Christ Church University College, Kent, England resulted in the founding of Bishop Moore Institute.
 
» A memorandum of understanding was signed by Bishop Moore College, Mavelikara, M.S.M. College Kayamkulam, and Christian College, Chenganoor at Bishop Moore College, Mavelikara for a consortium to pursue advanced studies in Analytical Chemistry.
2000
» Bishop Moore Community & Counselling Centre established.
 
» Prof. M.M. Thomas of the Physics department elected to the University Senate.
 
» The Pre-Degree Course is de-linked from the College. Henceforth only U.G. & P.G. Courses are to function in Colleges.
 
» B.Sc. course in Bio-technology started.
2001
» A double storeyed building is constructed in the Lady's Hostel with Funds from the U.S.A. raised by the Rev. Prof. P.K.Sunny, a former member of our History Faculty, for the purpose of setting up a permanent Community Counselling Centre.
 

» Bishop Moore Community & Counselling Centre declared open by Dr. B.Ekbal, Vice-Chancellor of Kerala University

» Prof. Victor Sam becomes the Principal.

Rt. Rev. Thomas Samuel takes charge as the Manager of the College.

2002

» A prolonged state wide strike against curtailing the benefits of employees disrupts all academic work.

The teaching staff and non teaching staff offered 65% of one month salary for the developmental activities of the College.

The student strength 1201 (373 boys and 82 girls).  Teaching staff 63. Non-teaching staff 47.

 
» Accreditation and Assessment work of the college started. Steering Committee has been appointed. NAAC office opened.
2003
» The library computerized. The library is stocked to full capacity with over 47000 books.
 
» Research Centre in Chemical Sciences inaugurated.
2004

» The college is accredited by NAAC at B++ Level.

» Strength of Library increased.

» Research wing of nano technology started.

» Quality assurance cell formed.

 
» Computer Centre with internet facility started for the access of the whole community.
 
» Women's unit of N.C.C formed.
2005
» Optoelectronics research lab started.
 
» Prof. Koshy Ninan  becomes the Principal.
 


» Tsunami relief committee formed to rehabilitate the 42 students from the area. A major project to support the Tsunami affected students for 3 years was undertaken by the College with the generous support of the management, staff, students, parents and well-wishers.
» Asha Mary Joseph  bags Ist Rank in B. Sc. Botany for the University Examinations.
» Sajeev Philip bags 2nd rank in B. Sc. Physics

» Indo german Project in Chemistry started

2006
» Noon meal scheme for students started.
»  All the Departments computerised.
» National workshop in Chemistry held.
» Meeting of former teachers started.
2007
» Broadband connectivity installed in all departments.
» Renu Venugopal deputed to Vietnam under N. C. C.  Youth Exchange Programme.
» Campus placement for 10 students.
» Eco-study centre started.
» Rain water harvest pit inaugurated.
2008
»  First ever International Conference on ‘Climate Change  and Water Crisis’ held from 4-6 Feb.
»  College bags the Manorama Palathully award of Rs. 1 lakh for the water harvesting and eco programmes.
»  Remedial coaching for SC/ST/ minority students by UGC started.
2009
» Prof. Dr.Mathew Koshy assumes office of the Principal
 
» Kerala university approved chemistry lab as an approved reaearch centre
 
» Started Internet  and language lab with 25 computers
 

» The front portion of the college converted into a garden

 

» Certificate course in Journalism and Computerised Accounting started.

 

» Hosted the Refresher course in Physics for the College  lectures all over India, conducted by Indian Academy of Science.

 

» Departments of Zoology, Chemistry, Malayalam, Maths  conducted exhibitions for  public and school children

2010

» Re-accredited by NAAC with B grade  with a CGPA of 2.81

 

» UGC sanctioned add on courses in Medical Laboratory Technology and Journalism and Mass communication
